WORKERS Workers Deluxe Tote, Mini,

WORKERS is a menswear manufacturer based in Okayama. Centered on workwear, traditional style, and military clothing, the brand creates garments through thorough research into vintage clothing. Its founder personally studies actual vintage pieces, visits the manufacturers from the period in which they were made and surviving buildings from that era, researches the available materials, and translates his findings into garments that are easy to wear today through meticulous patternmaking.

When I showed the Deluxe Tote M size to a classmate from Bunka, she commented, “Come to think of it, office ladies go to lunch carrying bags that only fit their phones and wallets. I carry mine in my hand, though.”
Ah, now that I think about it, I often saw mini sizes in the Deluxe color scheme casually sitting in vintage clothing stores... When I searched for them, I found they cost an astonishing amount. The color scheme certainly doesn’t seem to be available now, and it’s cute. There was no way I could buy one myself at that price... so I made one.

The base is 18 cm, the depth is 13 cm, and the height is 16 cm. When laid flat, the opening is approximately 25 cm wide. In terms of capacity, it holds about a long wallet, a phone, and keys.
It should just fit Gin-chan’s walking scoop and a plastic bag. From here, I’ll give it to the owner to use.
The body is made of No. 6 canvas weighing 19.1 ounces. The handles are No. 11 canvas. Even that weighs 10 ounces.
The side sections are lock-stitched this time. The original was lock-stitched as well.
I imagine they probably made it from leftover fabric, so perhaps that’s why it was lock-stitched rather than finished with a selvedge edge.
At this size, it has enough stiffness to stand even without folding the top inward.

I sometimes carry a large bag in everyday life, but for a short outing on a day off, I often really only need my wallet, smartphone, and keys.

What I personally like first is its perfectly balanced size.

Not too big, not too small. Put in only what you need, carry it easily in your hand, and head out. This kind of lightness is surprisingly important.

And above all, the fabric used for this small bag is superb.

It’s made with extremely thick 19.1-ounce canvas and is constructed much more sturdily than you might expect from its mini size.

The fabric is thick enough for the bag to stand on its own even when empty, giving it a reassuring sturdiness as a tool, not merely a charming appearance.

A somewhat nostalgic color combination reminiscent of vintage American-made canvas bags. I can’t help being drawn to classic color schemes like this.

It blends naturally with everyday American casual styles such as denim, military trousers, and chinos, and I think it would also be interesting paired with slightly dressier clothes.

On days when you don’t need a large bag, simply fill it with what you need and carry it around casually. It’s a bag that suits this kind of unpretentious use.

Of course, it’s also recommended for women, and would likely make a welcome small gift.

And because the canvas is this durable, it will be fun to see how it changes with extended use.

The initially stiff fabric gradually softens and develops a natural patina around the corners and handles. Because it’s a small bag, I think you’ll grow especially attached to these changes.

Carry only what you need and head out without a fuss.

It’s a bag that makes those unremarkable everyday moments a little more fun.
