WORKERS ワーカーズ Deluxe Tote, Mini,

WORKERS is a menswear manufacturer based in Okayama. Centered on workwear, traditional style, and military clothing, the brand creates garments through thorough research into vintage clothing. Its owner personally studies actual vintage pieces, visiting the manufacturers from the period when they were made and even existing buildings to research source materials, then translates his findings through meticulous patternmaking into garments that are easy to wear today.

When I showed the Deluxe Tote in size M to a classmate from Bunka, she said, “Come to think of it, office ladies go to lunch carrying bags that only fit their phones and wallets. I carry mine by hand, though.”
Ah, now that I think about it, I used to see mini-sized bags in the Deluxe color scheme casually sitting around vintage clothing stores... When I searched for them, I found some astonishing prices. It’s certainly a color combination you don’t see much anymore, and it’s cute. There was no way I could buy one myself at that price, so I made one.

The base is 18 cm wide, 13 cm deep, and 16 cm high. The opening is about 25 cm wide when flattened. In terms of capacity, it fits a long wallet, phone, and keys.
It should just fit Gin-chan’s walking scoop and a plastic bag. I’ll give it to the owner to use from now on.
The body is made from No. 6 canvas at 19.1 ounces. The handles use No. 11 canvas, which is still 10 ounces.
The side seams are finished with a lock stitch this time. The original also used a lock stitch.
I imagine it was made from leftover fabric, so perhaps that’s why it has a lock stitch rather than a selvage.
At this size, it’s sufficiently stiff and stands up even without folding it over.

I sometimes carry a large bag in everyday life, but when I’m just heading out for a bit on a day off, I often really only need my wallet, smartphone, and keys.

What I personally like first is its exceptionally well-balanced size.

Not too big, not too small. Put in only what you need, pick it up, and head out with ease. This kind of lightness is surprisingly important.

And above all, the fabric used for this small bag is superb.

Made from extremely thick 19.1-ounce canvas, it is so sturdily constructed that you would never guess it was a mini-sized bag.

The fabric is thick enough for the bag to stand on its own even when empty, giving it a dependable, practical quality beyond its simple charm.

A somewhat nostalgic color combination reminiscent of old American-made canvas bags. Classic color schemes like this are hard not to love.

It blends naturally with everyday American-casual styles such as denim, military trousers, and chinos, but I think it would also be interesting paired with slightly dressier clothes.

On days when you don’t need to carry a large bag, simply put in what you need and carry it casually. This is a bag that suits that effortless way of using it.

Of course, I recommend it for women as well, and I think it would make a lovely little gift.

And because this canvas is so durable, I’m looking forward to seeing how it changes with continued use.

The initially stiff fabric gradually softens with use, developing a natural patina around the corners and handles. Because it’s a small bag, I think you’ll grow especially attached to these changes.

Take only what you need and head out with ease.

It’s a bag that makes those ordinary everyday moments a little more fun.
