WORKERS Workers Deluxe Tote, Mini,

WORKERS is a menswear manufacturer based in Okayama. Centered on workwear, traditional style, and military clothing, the brand creates garments through thorough research into vintage clothing. Its founder personally studies actual vintage pieces, visits the manufacturers from the period in which they were made and even the surviving buildings, researches the available materials, and translates it all into meticulously drafted patterns that are easy to wear today.

When I showed a Deluxe Tote in size M to a classmate from Bunka, she said, “Come to think of it, office ladies go to lunch carrying bags that only fit their phones and wallets. I just carry mine in my hand, though.”
Ah, come to think of it, I remember seeing mini sizes in the Deluxe color scheme casually sitting around vintage clothing stores... When I searched for them, I found astonishing prices. It’s certainly a cute color scheme you probably can’t find now. There was no way I could buy one at that price myself, so I made it.

The base is 18 cm wide, 13 cm deep, and 16 cm high. Flattening the opening gives it a width of about 25 cm. In terms of capacity, it fits a long wallet, phone, and keys.
It should just fit Gin-chan’s walking scoop and a plastic bag. I’ll give it to the owner to use from now on.
The body is made of No. 6 canvas weighing 19.1 ounces. The handles are No. 11 canvas. Even that weighs 10 ounces.
The side sections have a lockstitch finish this time. The original also had a lockstitch finish.
I imagine it was made from leftover fabric, so perhaps that’s why it has a lockstitch finish rather than a selvedge.
At this size, it’s sufficiently stiff and stands up even without folding it over.

I sometimes carry a large bag in everyday life, but when I’m just going out briefly on a day off, I often really only need my wallet, smartphone, and keys.

What I personally like first is this perfectly balanced size.

Not too big, not too small. Put in only what you need, take it in your hand, and head out casually. This kind of lightness is surprisingly important.

And above all, the fabric used for this small bag is outstanding.

It uses an extra-thick 19.1-ounce canvas and is so sturdily made that you wouldn’t think it was a mini size.

The fabric is thick enough for the bag to stand on its own even when empty, giving it a reassuring practicality as a tool rather than merely a cute appearance.

A somewhat nostalgic color combination reminiscent of vintage American-made canvas bags. I can’t help being drawn to this kind of classic color scheme.

It blends naturally with everyday Americana styles such as denim, military trousers, and chinos, and I think it would also be interesting paired with slightly dressier clothes.

On days when you don’t need to carry a large bag, put in just what you need and carry it casually. This is a bag that suits that unpretentious way of using it.

Of course, I recommend it for women as well, and I think it would make a welcome small gift.

And because this canvas is so durable, I’m looking forward to seeing how it changes with continued use.

The initially stiff fabric gradually softens with use, developing a natural patina around the corners and handles. Because it’s a small bag, I think you’ll grow especially attached to these changes.

Carry only what you need and head out without a care.

It’s a bag that makes those ordinary days just a little more enjoyable.
