WAREHOUSE 3061 Chambray Work Shirt (Full Open)
Since its founding in 1995, WAREHOUSE has pursued the goal of faithfully reproducing vintage clothing. We study the historical context in which each vintage garment we come across was made, then research every aspect of it in meticulous detail, from the individual threads and fabric to the stitching and wash treatment, to reproduce it faithfully.
WAREHOUSE is not a designer brand.
Just as designers' names weren't recorded on workwear and daily wear at the time, we believe that a garment is appealing precisely because we don't know who made it.
This fully button-front work shirt is made from chambray fabric. Based on a 1940s Uncle Sam brand work shirt, it features an E-Z REACH POCKET (cigarette pocket) on the left chest, a distinctive double-layer pocket said to have been patented in 1937 and emblematic of UNCLE SAM. Designed to hold cigarettes, it helps keep them dry from body moisture and makes them easy to reach while working. The right chest has a flap pocket, a simple, vertically oriented design that contrasts with the distinctive cigarette pocket on the left.

Chambray work shirts have long been one of my personal favorite garments.
It's not as heavy as a denim shirt, nor as polished as an Oxford shirt. It has just the right amount of ruggedness and goes naturally with any outfit. I think that versatility is part of its appeal.
WAREHOUSE's Lot 3061 recreates a 1940s UNCLE SAM brand work shirt.
The detail I'd especially like you to notice is the different design of each chest pocket.
The left chest features an “E-Z REACH POCKET,” originally designed to make cigarettes easy to access. Its distinctive double-layer construction is a practical detail that captures the appeal of vintage workwear.
The fabric is 16 x 16 selvedge chambray. It has a nicely substantial feel and gradually softens and molds to you with repeated wear and washing, making it a material that will develop character over time.
Personally, I'd pair it with faded denim or roomy chinos for a classic American casual look.
Wear it on its own, throw it on over a T-shirt, or layer it under a coverall or military jacket. It's useful in every season.
I'm 175 cm tall and weigh 75 kg, and I'm wearing size 40.
I think the best thing about a chambray shirt is not just how it looks when new, but how it becomes after years of wear.
The natural creases and fading that develop with repeated washing, and the way the fabric gradually softens. The beauty of this kind of work shirt lies in enjoying those changes, too.
At first glance, it's a simple, unremarkable shirt. But the more you learn about its fine details and the texture of the fabric, the more its appeal comes through.
A shirt you'll want to keep wearing five or ten years from now, regardless of trends. It's a piece you'll want to wear for years to come.
