The RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR concept of "no boundaries between daily life and the mountains" might sound like a common expression at first glance, but for me, it is a crucial theme. The truth is, I’m not very good at organizing; I often find my closet in disarray before I know it. Honestly, I’m not very good at keeping my everyday clothes and mountain gear neatly separated.
Why not just remove that boundary from the beginning? If you can wear your favorite clothes both in daily life and in the mountains, your closet stays tidy, and you can curb unnecessary spending. With that thought in mind, I design RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR products every day. I believe that by creating items that fit both daily life and the outdoors, life becomes a little bit easier. This shirt was created with that sentiment in mind.
I had this idea: "I want to make a striped shirt."
This is a personal preference, but there was a time in the late 1990s when I was obsessed with striped shirts.
I spent a period wearing striped shirts from various brands, ranging from workwear-style shirts by "BEN DAVIS," "NEIGHBORHOOD," and "POST O'ALLS," to shirts from brands like "COMME des GARCONS SHIRT."
Thinking back to that time, I felt like wearing a striped shirt again for the first time in a while.However, I couldn't just use a simple cotton striped fabric.
I searched for a striped fabric with a stripe width that was suitable for hiking and aesthetically pleasing, and chose the "Primeflex® × Dot Air® 2Way Soccer Stripe."
This product uses the 4-way stretch (stretches vertically and horizontally) "Primeflex® × Dot Air® 2Way Soccer Stripe."
Primeflex® is an eco-friendly stretch material developed by Toray Industries, Inc.
Primeflex offers superior quick-drying properties and elasticity compared to conventional polyester fabrics, ensuring a smooth, dry feel even after sweating.
Dot Air® is a functional material developed by Toray Industries, Inc.
Through Toray's proprietary processing technology, micro-perforations are created in the fabric to provide high breathability, lightness, quick-drying properties, wrinkle resistance, and a natural stretch.
It also features water-repellent properties.
The "Primeflex® × Dot Air® 2Way Soccer Stripe" used here was born from combining these two functional materials.
"Soccer weave" (seersucker) is a type of fabric often used for summer items.
The characteristic of a soccer weave is its fine, uneven surface, which facilitates airflow and keeps the fabric away from the skin, resulting in a cool, comfortable feel.
