About RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR

For me, time spent hiking and time spent at home or in the city are all part of one continuous daily life.
I want to be able to move comfortably and without restriction throughout that continuous time.
RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR creates tools and clothing that gently align with that feeling.

Giving a reason for every function, and adding nothing unnecessary.
Designing structures so they can be repaired and used again if they break, and building up small improvements based on insights gained from my own hikes.

What I want to create are not items for special occasions, but tools I find myself reaching for every day.
I like to call items that find their place in daily life in this way "staples."
A staple does not mean never changing, but rather, not changing too much.
Listening to the user, I aim to update only what is truly necessary, creating a form that grows more reliable over time.

Quality is born from the relationships between creators.
I maintain face-to-face interactions with factories and suppliers across Japan, choosing only the designs where their respective strengths can be best utilized.
Rather than using exaggerated language, I want to convey as honestly as possible why a shape is the way it is and the background behind how it was made.

RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR will continue to slowly increase the number of things we believe are "truly necessary."
