The brand launched under the name "cable" in Spring/Summer 2008. In Spring/Summer 2013, the brand name was changed to "cableami".

Derived from the traditional Aran knitting pattern "cable," "ami" carries two meanings: the Japanese word for knitting, and the French word for friend.

The name embodies two concepts: creating by intertwining various elements one by one, like a cable pattern, and crafting hats that are cherished like friends.
