This is a jacket I've personally wanted to make for a long time.
I've always loved vintage first-type denim jackets, but I wondered if I could enjoy that classic design in a lighter, more refined way. That idea led me to create this piece with NUU, a brand by Moriyama Sewing in Kiryu.
Our biggest priority was choosing 100% linen.
Denim has its own rugged appeal, but using linen gives this first-type jacket a completely different character.
It has linen's natural creases and soft texture, with an understated elegance. We wanted it to feel like a casual jacket that adults can wear with ease.
Another great thing about it is that you can wear it even in the height of summer.
When it's hot, it's easy to reach for just a T-shirt, but having a lightweight jacket you can throw on makes summer outfits much more fun.
The silhouette has a comfortable amount of room through the body, while the length is kept clean and short. It pairs well with wider-leg jeans and chinos, and has a relaxed feel.
I especially recommend pairing it with the matching trousers made from the same fabric.
Wearing them together adds a touch of elegance to a casual look, offering a style that's a little different from everyday American casual. Of course, each piece works just as well on its own.
