The brand name "melple" is a portmanteau of "mellow people." It refers to the mellow, laid-back atmosphere of California and the people who lead rich lifestyles there. Influenced by such culture and feeding it back into our craftsmanship, we propose a "Modern Vintage Style."
Rather than simply recreating archives from the past, we propose ever-changing cultures and styles in a uniquely melple way. Please enjoy the relaxed, distinctively melple atmosphere.
A mellow rugby shirt that evokes the sea breeze of the West Coast. As styles like IVY and PREPPY are gaining popularity, this is a piece with a unique melple twist, rather than a direct take. It features the traditional placket and buttons of a rugby shirt but removes the collar for a perfectly balanced, laid-back look. The retro stripes, which exude the scent of 1970s California, are knitted in Wakayama using recycled, extra-long staple cotton waste. Combined with the five-quarter sleeves and loose silhouette, it will be a versatile piece throughout the year. You can wear it on its own in spring and summer, or enjoy layering it with inner or outer garments in autumn and winter. The left chest features the mellow message: "For Your Loved Ones." I was really looking forward to this melple-style rugby shirt ever since I saw it at the exhibition. It uses a retro striped material that is thin, lightweight, and extremely comfortable to wear even in the hot season.
