A wool jacket that comes in handy in all sorts of Venice Beach settings, from a brisk morning walk on the beach to a lively afternoon on the street.
The balance of the relaxed width and shoulders with the short length brings together an easygoing, laid-back feel.
The large gusseted pockets look like they can hold just about anything. The left pocket has an inner pocket for sunglasses, while the right has one for a card wallet, keys, and other small items.
The chest zip pocket has a ball-chain slider that gives it a nice classic look.
The fit at the cuffs and hem can be adjusted with buttons. The corduroy collar adds a nice accent.
The charcoal mélange short beaver fabric is spun from recycled wool and recycled polyester, with every step of production carried out in Japan. It feels smooth and soft against the skin.

This Venice Cruiser Jacket is one of my personal favorites from melple this season.
This jacket combines a rugged design reminiscent of an old American work jacket with the relaxed feel that’s quintessentially melple.
What I especially like is the silhouette, with a generous width and a neatly shortened length. The balance is just right: it feels relaxed to wear while sitting beautifully when on.
The fabric is a short beaver cloth made with recycled wool. It feels smooth and soft against the skin, and has the refined look that’s characteristic of wool jackets.
The fine details are appealing, too, including the corduroy collar, ball-chain zipper pull, and large gusseted pockets. The pockets offer plenty of storage, so you could probably head out for a quick errand without a bag.
Personally, I’d pair it with wide chinos or faded denim for a slightly rugged American casual look. Wear it with slacks and leather shoes for a more grown-up style.

It has a classic design without feeling dated. It makes just the right statement, and simply throwing it on over your everyday clothes pulls the whole look together.
