The brand name IMPRESTORE | What is IMPRESTORE?
A coined word combining < IMPROVE = to evolve > and < RESTORE = to repair >.
Based on rugged, hard-wearing American vintage, we repair and reconstruct it to suit today’s tastes, creating evolved SEMI-STANDARD WEAR. | We continue to offer SEMI-STANDARD WEAR.

I love vintage printed flannel. I love its softer feel compared to regular woven flannel, and the worn-in look unique to prints. But it’s hard to find one with the right pattern, size, and condition that checks all my boxes.
So we decided to make it ourselves, and this year we created printed flannel fabric in an original IMPRESTORE plaid.
And this season, there are two patterns!
First up, BROWN × NAVY.
We wanted to realistically capture the twists and wear in vintage patterns, as well as the worn-away print, so we recreated every single thread in the plaid as a graphic. We kept layering and adjusting... and before we knew it, we had a whopping 30 layers!
And the other one is GREEN × RED.
To reproduce the way threads overlap and run in different directions, as they do in woven fabric, we drew each thread individually and endlessly adjusted their direction.
Both are painstakingly made graphics that involved processes I thought were a little crazy myself. Haha.
The pattern and fading look so realistic, at first glance you wouldn’t even think it was printed flannel.
It turned out so well that even vintage clothing store owners told us, “You wouldn’t know it wasn’t deadstock from back in the day.” And it’s not just the look we love about printed flannel, but the comfort, too.
100% cotton, lightweight and not too thick, yet still nice and warm.
We went through a lot of trouble again this year, but it paid off in some great fabric.
Using this original printed flannel, we made a hooded flannel shirt of the kind that took the mid-2000s by storm.
Back then, heather gray hoods were the standard, but this time we chose hood colors to match each plaid. Rather than looking like the hood was simply “added later,” the colors blend naturally with the plaid, which looks great.
And we added a little twist to the buttons, too!
We sampled a vintage BIG YANK and made our own original die-cast buttons.
The classic buttons go beautifully with the faded pattern of the printed flannel. It’s a hooded flannel from the mid-2000s, but it could pass for vintage from a much earlier era.
It turned out to be a wonderfully intriguing shirt that’s hard to place in any particular era. The balance is just right.

The slightly faded-looking plaid has the lovely feel of vintage printed flannel. Personally, I really like the combination of this vintage-inspired texture and the hood.
I’m wearing a size 40. It has plenty of room through the body, giving it a relaxed silhouette. The fabric is lightweight and not too thick, so it would be nice to wear it more like a light overshirt than a regular shirt.
It pairs beautifully with faded denim and military pants, of course, but it also makes a statement with simple pants.
It’s fun how it evokes nostalgia for the 2000s while still feeling natural to wear today.
