GOLDEN SOMBRERO Embroidery Cap
Based in Kurashiki, Okayama, hat brand DECHO has earned a devoted following for its products, all sewn in its own factory, which develop distinctive colors and character with wear.
Founded in Tokyo as a “fictional music label,” TACOMA FUJI RECORDS is a T-shirt label that has drawn attention through collaborations with numerous artists and brands.
The two, who had never crossed paths before, somehow hit it off.
DECHO brings its years of know-how to a “regular cap” made with an uncompromising focus on everyday wear, reproducing TACOMA FUJI RECORDS' artwork in richly crafted embroidery.
The fusion of DECHO's quality and TACOMA FUJI RECORDS' creativity proposes a new standard that says, “This is just right.”
Now in its sixth year, the sixth GOLDEN SOMBRERO collection was created by DECHO x TACOMA FUJI RECORDS with designer Motonobu Nakamura (EDIT -design&supply-).
This edition is themed around the Columbia River and its tributaries in Oregon.
Portland, Oregon, is also home to one of the largest Native American communities in the United States.
Rivers flowing through cities where urban life and nature coexist are symbols of those cities. In Native American thought, rivers are not simply “water resources,” but the lifeblood that runs through the land, a sacred presence that sustains all life in nature. They remain important places, close to the lives of the people who live there today.
The appeal of each river inspired designs conceived as “pins prized by river enthusiasts for collecting and trading.” These were then fine-tuned to suit a cap design, resulting in this piece.
One river sits alongside downtown as a symbol of its city, while on another, people cast their fishing lines and enjoy the slow passage of time.
Some enjoy a campfire beside a tent on the riverbank, while others go for a run on a riverside trail.
There's nothing better than listening to the sound of a stream as you doze.

This design is inspired by rivers flowing through Oregon.
The embroidery, featuring each river, has the feel of an old American souvenir or a cap from a local shop, and I love its slightly laid-back look.
Personally, I think caps like this are best worn with your everyday clothes without overthinking it.
It looks great with faded denim, sweatshirts, or a well-worn coverall, and is also perfect for adding a touch of interest to a simple outfit.
The careful craftsmanship, made in Japan, is another welcome detail.
