DEVISE FACTORY was founded as a children's clothing brand.
At its core is the concept of "durable clothing that you can enjoy as it ages."
Before the era of mass production, craftsmanship took time.
But it was precisely because of this that time was not spared, resulting in high-quality clothing built to last.
At DEVISE FACTORY, we use rare, antique loopwheel machines from about 100 years ago—from an era when such care was common—
and we continue to meticulously craft fabrics capable of withstanding years of wear using an inefficient method that can only knit one meter per hour.
While modern machines can knit about 25 meters in an hour, we intentionally take our time to finish our fabrics with a depth of character and a beauty that evolves with age.
We will continue to create garments that adapt to your body the more you wear them, becoming a piece you can truly make your own.
What DEVISE FACTORY values is not "where it was made," but "how it was made."
Currently, DEVISE FACTORY products are labeled both "MADE IN JAPAN" and "MADE IN CHINA."
This is a choice made to maximize the technology and equipment of each production site, according to the characteristics of the fabric.
The factories we have worked with for many years in both Japan and China engage sincerely with our exacting standards, supporting us with a dedicated desire to "create something good."
We use rare, vintage knitting machines from approximately 100 years ago.
Currently, we produce using loopwheel machines in Wakayama, Japan, and US-made Tompkins knitting machines in Shanghai, China.
We take their detailed requests seriously and continue to pursue our ideal fabrics and finishes together.
Why MADE IN CHINA?
Perhaps the term "MADE IN CHINA" may conjure images of mass production for some.
However, DEVISE FACTORY’s "MADE IN CHINA" is not about mass production, but rather the optimal choice for creating our ideal fabrics.
At the time of the brand's founding, there were almost no factories in Japan that could handle production using antique knitting machines, leading to much trial and error.
It was during this time that we encountered a factory in Shanghai that had acquired and was operating surplus American-made Tompkins knitting machines.
That encounter sparked a relationship of trust that has now lasted over 20 years.
We are not tethered to a specific production location.
If we can make great clothes, we are willing to go anywhere in the world.
What matters is not "where it was made (MADE IN)," but "who made it (MADE BY)."
By pursuing a level of comfort that can only be realized because it is MADE BY “DEVISE FACTORY,” we will continue to transcend borders to deliver the very best clothing.

At Mr.OLDMAN, we carry a wide variety of cut-and-sew items, but the pieces crafted by DEVISE FACTORY possess a charm unlike any of them.
They are produced in a factory in Shanghai using antique American-made Tompkins knitting machines that are about 100 years old.
At first, I thought, "Made in China?", but after touching the actual product and trying it on, I was surprised by the high quality.
Regardless of the production site, they produce wonderful cut-and-sew garments based on the philosophy of not where it is made, but who makes it.
