About the Brand and Product

SANDERS 1140B MILITARY CAP TOE CHELSEA BOOT

Sanders is a renowned British footwear brand founded in 1873 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England.
Most leather shoes supplied to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) are made by Sanders, and around 50% of the factory is dedicated to their production.
As a result, the company can make traditional “Made in England” shoes with excellent value for money, keeping production costs down even when using the same methods and natural materials as other Northampton manufacturers.
Today, the company employs more than 90 craftspeople and produces OEM footwear for prestigious brands such as Gieves & Hawkes, Marcel Lassance, A.P.C., and Ralph Lauren, while also focusing on its original SANDERS line.
By making their own improvements to Goodyear-welted shoes, which can be stiff, heavy, and sometimes look rugged, they create practical footwear that looks classic but feels light, soft, and comfortable to wear.

The cap features the distinctive three rows of stitching that have become an icon, also known as Puritan stitching, sewn using a now-rare three-needle machine.
Designed for easy on and off without compromising on a beautiful shape, the combination of a restrained welt and sole thickness gives these boots a modern, refined look while retaining their rugged character.

The uppers are made of polished leather. They have a glossy finish, resist scuffs and dirt, and are relatively water-resistant. After brushing, polish them with a soft cloth dampened with a little water to maintain their shine. They’re easy to care for, making them a great choice for anyone new to leather shoes.

<MILITARY COLLECTION>
A collection developed around lasts based on archived military shoe models held by Sanders, an official supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). It features versatile styles that work with everything from casual wear to dressier outfits.

A Note from Our Staff

Ichimura / 175 cm / 75 kg

The classic MILITARY CAP TOE CHELSEA BOOT, made for many years by SANDERS, a long-established British shoemaker.

While many shoes come and go with changing trends, the fact that these have been made for so long speaks to their exceptional quality.

What I particularly love is the perfect balance between the classic look of British shoes and the rugged character of military footwear.

The cap toe gives them a refined look, while the shape has just the right amount of volume. They’re smart leather shoes, but they also have a certain masculine strength.

And what’s wonderful about these shoes is that they aren’t just for pairing with smart clothes.

Personally, I love wearing them with faded denim, wide-leg chinos, or military pants that have been worn in a bit.

Pair them with rugged clothing like a coverall or military jacket, and they add a little structure to the overall look, giving it a more grown-up feel.

Of course, they also look great worn in a classic way with slacks or wool trousers.

Besides, I don’t think shoes like these are at their best when they’re brand new.

After years of wear, natural creases form in the leather, and the boots gradually mold to your feet. That distinctive character is one of the great pleasures of owning leather shoes you can wear for years.

They’re certainly not an impulse buy, but that’s exactly what makes them a pair you’ll want to own someday.

Wear them for 10 or 20 years, cherishing them as they gradually become a pair that’s uniquely yours.

This is a signature SANDERS Chelsea boot, a classic that can be enjoyed in just that way.
