HIGHER HT26054 N-1 DECK PIQUE WIDE BERET
HIGHER is based in southwestern Okayama Prefecture, a region known for hat production. The brand was named “HIGHER” to express its desire to “aim higher,” never being satisfied with current techniques or quality and always striving to improve. Committed to MADE IN JAPAN, the brand draws on the meticulousness of Japanese craftsmanship to create each product carefully by hand.
Made with fabric that revives deck pique, which was used in the U.S. Navy’s N-1 cold-weather work jackets in the mid-1900s. Piqué means “raised weave” in French, and the fabric is known for its distinctive surface, woven like furrows in a field. This sturdy, thick fabric has little stretch and offers wind and cold protection. Its raised texture also makes it breathable, making it a truly versatile material.
The wide beret has a relaxed silhouette, and you can enjoy all kinds of styling by shifting the balance of its loose crown. A Velcro adjuster inside the sweatband lets you adjust the size.

This HIGHER beret is made from deck pique fabric, known for its distinctive ribs, recreating the fabric used in vintage N-1 deck jackets.
The rugged fabric inspired by military wear and the beret’s soft silhouette make for a great combination.
It has a roomier fit than a typical beret, and it’s fun how the look changes depending on how you wear it, whether tilted back a little or styled with more volume to one side.
Personally, I like pairing it with denim jackets, coveralls, or military jackets.
Berets may seem a little tricky to wear, but this one has such a casual feel that it fits naturally into everyday Americana-inspired outfits.
It also has an adjustable inner band, so you can fine-tune the fit.
