Following the success of Bark Outsiders—which began with leather straps for divers’ watches—this is the second installment of our HOWL line, created in collaboration with Japan’s leading military watch brand, "NAVAL WATCH"!

The concept for the HOWL 002 is "a military watch that adults will want to wear."

It is based on the GG-W-113, a timepiece commissioned by the U.S. military from various manufacturers during the Vietnam War era, from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s.

Originally, the requirements for field utility necessitated hand-wound movements and lightweight aluminum cases.

For this collaborative watch, we designed the body case and case back from scratch, utilizing a solid, high-quality stainless steel case, and we have envisioned a high-end military watch with a TMI mechanical movement, assembled in Japan.

The luminous paint has been updated from the previous model, which, combined with the vintage feel of the ivory, results in what we believe is a superlative finish.

Regarding the design, I have long collected military watches from the Vietnam War era and found that every brand had its pros and cons, so I fused those elements together in my own way.

Whether it was the U.S. military originals being too small, preferring the case back of one brand over another, or modern equivalents feeling too cheap rather than mechanical, I have spent a lot of time thinking about what I truly wanted based on these differences.

Now that I am in my 40s, I find that when I look for a watch that is crafted with integrity—simple yet comfortable and fashionable—there are actually very few options. I suspect many of you feel the same way.

I have proceeded with this project in the hope that it will become the kind of military watch that adults like me would truly desire.
