WORKERS Forestier, Heavy Corduroy, Black

WORKERS is an Okayama-based menswear manufacturer. Centered on workwear, traditional styles, and military motifs, the brand crafts its clothing through a rigorous exploration of vintage wear. The representative himself studies actual vintage garments, visits the original manufacturers and historical sites, and conducts thorough research to create patterns that are meticulously crafted for modern, comfortable wear.

The Forestier is a semi-staple for WORKERS in the winter.
The patterns, which lack darting like a shirt or coverall, and the straight sleeves—these were the defining silhouette characteristics I noticed when examining an original Arnys piece.
This time, we have added a lineup made from incredibly thick, heavy, and high-density corduroy. Our fabric supplier created it with the goal of "making a corduroy that rivals Brisbane Moss!" It was so thick that the collar became too stiff and bulky to sew.
Upon looking closer at the original, I noticed the collar facing was made of a different material, like leather. "That's it!" I realized, and for the WORKERS version, we used cotton flannel for the underside of the collar. This ensures that even with our other option—the wool outer fabric—the collar will never feel scratchy against your skin! I believe we have successfully recreated the atmosphere of the original even more faithfully in its look.

The Heavy Corduroy is 14 ounces! The fabric mill poured their heart and soul into this, striving to make a corduroy that could stand up to Kindermann or Brisbane Moss. Unfortunately, it couldn't be produced in Japan, so we searched for a production site and found it in China, the world's factory.
They were fully committed, aiming not for "cheap and cheerful" in China, but for "the best quality in the world today." They pushed the thread density to the limit and used compact yarn—a material that twists cotton fibers to minimize fuzz—to achieve both a lustrous sheen and suppleness. I personally picked it out naturally from a selection of corduroy candidates without even knowing where it was from at first.
Gone are the days when "it's high quality simply because it's Japanese." Today, it's about fabric planners designing the specifications and searching the world for the place that can realize them. I believe that is the era we live in.
