LOCALLY Locally 02422 Plain Muffler Brown
A stole brand from Bishu, Aichi Prefecture, built around the concept of “wearing fabric.”
Today, only a few “Shonher looms” remain in Japan. We combine the traditions and techniques of Bishu with fresh ideas, creating pieces that bring out the character of the materials.
Unlike efficiency-focused fabrics made by treating yarn with chemicals, fabric woven on a “Shonher loom” has gaps between the threads that trap air, creating a distinctive softness and texture. The final steps are all completed by hand by artisans, making each piece one of a kind. The fabric develops over time, and the longer you use it, the more you can enjoy its changing character.
Woven slowly at a low speed to capture plenty of air, this wool is exceptionally light and warm. It isn’t itchy and has a comforting, enveloping softness. Its refined quality and understated look can elevate any outfit just by wearing it. Simply wrap it loosely around your neck, and you’re ready to go.
It’s easy to use as a shoulder wrap or lap blanket in the car or indoors, and we recommend it for everyone.

The LOCALLY scarf we’re introducing today is just the kind of piece that brings these qualities to mind.
This wool fabric is slowly woven over time on traditional Shonher looms in Bishu, Aichi Prefecture. Touch it for yourself, and you’ll be surprised by how soft and light it feels.
What I especially love about it is its distinctive, slightly lofty texture, as though it’s filled with air.
It feels so gentle against the skin, you’d never guess it’s 100% wool, and it feels truly wonderful wrapped around your neck.
Just wrap it loosely around your neck for natural volume, or drape it over your shoulders and wear it like a stole.
Personally, I also love this subdued shade of brown.
It pairs beautifully with olive military jackets, navy coats, and well-worn denim. I think of it as something that adds a touch of refinement to your everyday casual outfits.
Another pleasure unique to LOCALLY is how the fabric gradually softens and develops its character with use.
