Original Heather Stripe Sweat Shirt
GENERAL THINGS original striped crewneck sweatshirt.
This piece is made from original “Heather Stripe Fleece,” developed from scratch to achieve the character of vintage clothing.
A rare stripe knitting machine, with only a few still operating in Japan, is used to knit the wide stripes at a high gauge.
The fabric uses “Raffi TOP yarn” by Taisho Boseki. Inspired by vintage yarn-making techniques, several colors are blended to create a richly dimensional heathered texture that never looks monotonous.
Its appeal lies in its substantial yet comfortable weight and the natural irregularity unique to coarser-spun yarn. The inside is lightly brushed for a soft, comfortable feel against the skin.
Vintage sweatshirt details include raglan sleeves, underarm gussets, and flat-seam construction, with comfort and ease of movement carefully considered throughout.
Near the hem on the left back side, the size marking, like those found on vintage garments, is individually embroidered using a handle-operated embroidery machine. Orange bar tacks at the seam ends add a subtle accent.
Though it features simple stripes, the fabric’s texture and fine details give this piece plenty of character.
It’s great on its own and also works well as a layer under a jacket.
